Just like in the movie, the Ark had to be carefully and lovingly built by a mad man.
The filming all took place in front of a square of green fabric. Every wrinkle and crease meant more effort in post, but we worked with what we had.
Months were spent in preparation: putting together careful shot lists, storyboarding, and collecting trash to manufacture tiny little robo-droids and city spires. How do I know what trash was destined to become a fixture in a sci-fi cityscape? All I can say, is that I know it when I see it.

To build the world, I used a combination of bottle cap creations, expertly crafted by my Prop Master, Nathan Weidman, and cheap 3D assets I found on the online community marketplace, SuperHive.
I wanted the sky to feel like it was suffocating you in red smog, and closing in on itself like a collapsed lung. The city itself was inspired by soviet architecture I saw while visiting Eastern European cities like Bratislava, mixed with the texture and feeling of my home city, Salt Lake.
The result is a hazy dream world that smells like proton fluid and cigarette smoke.
Welcome, to the Ark of Givens.
